What Is Tzedakah?

Giving to others is a core value of Judaism. The word tzedakah (צְדָקָה) means more than charity—it means justice and righteousness. It reminds us that sharing our resources with those in need is not a generous act, but a fair and honest one.

Tzedakah can take many forms besides money. We can also offer our time, skills, or a friendly smile to brighten someone’s day.

We all have something to give, no matter how much we have. By putting a coin in a charity box every morning (except on Shabbat and Jewish holidays), we start our day with a positive mindset. Make it a part of your daily routine.

By making a donation to Chabad Brighton, not only are you fulfilling a Mitzvah, but you are helping us to continue our work spreading the joy and teachings of Judaism across Sussex.
