Shabbat (also known as Shabbos by Ashakinazi Jews) is a day of rest and celebration that begins on Friday at sunset and ends on Saturday night. It is a time to reconnect with family, friends and community, and to enjoy the blessings of peace and joy.
One of the highlights of Shabbat is the Friday night dinner, which is a festive and delicious meal that brings everyone together. At Chabad Brighton, we invite you to join us for an inspirational and uplifting service, to welcome in the Shabbat, followed by a delicious Friday night dinner with family, friends and the Brighton and Hove Jewish Community.
Our Friday night dinner menu is home cooked and traditional. We start with a glass of wine and a slice of challah bread, which are blessed to sanctify the Shabbat. Then we enjoy a variety of dishes, such as:
- Homemade Soup: Usually a traditional Chicken soup, a warm and comforting broth
- Main course: Roast chicken, cooked to perfection with herbs and spices, accompanied by rice, potatoes or couscous, and roasted vegetables.
- Dessert: Fruit salad, cake or ice cream, depending on the season and availability.
Throughout the meal, we sing songs, share stories, learn more about each other, discuss Torah topics and celebrate our Jewish heritage. We welcome guests from different backgrounds, who enrich our table with their perspectives and experiences.
If you are interested in joining us for a Friday night dinner, either contact Rabbi Efune or book online. We would love to have you as part of our Shabbat family!
