Friends and community members from Brighton and Hove joined Rabbi Pesach & Penina Efune on an uplifting, educational, inspirational and fun trip to Israel in early March 2023. This trip was designed to educate, inspire and strengthen people’s connection with Israel in a fun and enjoyable way. Unlike most other organisations, the trip does not have a specific agenda to educate participants about their cause. Instead, the goal is to visit places of interest that are slightly off the beaten tourist trail.
The group visited several places that are a must-see when in Israel, such as the Western Wall and Yad Vashem. However, they also went to a War of Independence ammunition factory, a Bee farm, an Ethiopian Jewish community, and discovered the largest stalactite cave in the region. They also did some volunteering and met amazing people who are helping others.
Religion was not forced upon anyone during the trip. They wanted everyone to feel comfortable and non-judged, and some of the places visited may have been deemed “religious.” For example, they visited a Shemurah Matzah factory and spent some time at the Kotel. Shabbat was a free day, and those who wished to attend a synagogue did so on their own accord. They always endeavored to eat Shabbat meals together.
The group stayed in the Central Jerusalem Ibis Hotel, which was exceptional value for money. The hotel was centrally located, and they traveled together in a mini-bus, using the hotel as their base. The trip was open to any age group.
The trip was a huge success, with participants learning, exploring, and enjoying Israel in a unique and fun way. If you’re interested in joining the next trip, be sure to contact Rabbi Efune or join our newsletter.
